[i] Mostly left without anyone's help in her home country, Melika Salihbeg Bosnawi remains lastingly grateful for all the help in making the writing of this book possible, primarily to Madam Zeynep Aktulün of Istanbul, but also to the whole Aktulün family, who, during years of her exile, had often been her hosts and assistants, in the best meaning of the word. Gratitude is also extended to the Swiss organisation for promotion of culture and art "Pro Helvetia", which granted Melika with a three-month stay in Carona, Switzerland, where she completed work on this book, and subsequently helped her to organise the promotion of the book in Sarajevo and Paris. Support given to this author by the Aktulün family, the Swiss wartime and post-war cultural attaché in Bosnia, Mr. Wolfgang Amadeus Bruelhart and his successor, Miss. Ivana Enzler, and the "Pro Helvetia" organisation, are without precedent in her life. Unsurpassed is also her experience of Swiss political, stately and cultural civility, within which once lived and worked Melika's favourite poets and painters, such as Rilke and Paul Klée.
